Mobile phones in Canada

So I arrived in Canada with my NZ Vodafone mobile hoping I could hop on a new network.  Apparently not.  They charge all sorts of activation fees, sim card fees blah blah blah.  Buying a (much better) new phone for $28 was a whole lot cheaper.

The plans are completely different (read crazy) as well.  They sting you for everything!  You have to pay an extra $10 a month for voice mail and more again for caller id.  Plus you pay to receive phone calls.  Being on a working holiday kinda budget I stuck with the basic no frills option…  Hence my phone rings, I have no idea who is calling because I have no caller id, I don’t want to pay to talk & then the caller can’t leave a message.  Hmm.  At least I can text.

On the plus side…  it only costs me $5 a month for all I can eat mobile browsing!  I can now check my gmail and facebook every 5 mins just in case I’ve missed anything or can’t find my laptop…

Hey Liv, hope the winter is treating you ok. $5 for mobile browsing is a pipe dream here! But apparently things are a-changing … according to the telco’s.
Loads of change at your last (nz) place of employment, plenty of growth and new faces. And the old ad clan are still intact. Take care and watch out for bears. Mg x
